Recreate your Childhood

2001-2012
I chose this photo because it is one of my favorite childhood photos. I was six years old and this was one of my costumes for my dance recital. I had so much fun recreating this photo.

Portrait Series

Portrait Series  Model: Matthew Maciejowski

I loved doing the portrait series. It definitely gave me the freedom to think of a new way of taking pictures. In this series I took pictures of someone doing everyday activities... sleeping. When we sleep we generally toss and turn all night. If you were to look at someone in different stages of sleep you would find that they are in all different positions. That definitely describes my art. I do not have a specific style, what ever I feel at the moment is the feeling I like to portray in my photos.

When coming up with the idea for this series I knew that I did not want to do the typical posed pictures. I wanted to portray a necessary activity. After I took a few pictures I knew that I can take this so many places. I decided to take a simpler approach and show different stages whether it is a nap or a twelve hour sleep.

Photo Walk

Library Books
I love how the books look used and they appear to be filling up the shelves.

Morning Snow

In the morning it started to snow. Since the ground was frozen it stuck to the grass and plants. This is just a little bit before it melted.

Artist Inspirations

1.
Autumn Tempest, Utah 2005, Christopher Burkett
Christopher Burkett - Christopher Burkett mostly photographs trees. I like how he uses vibrant colors and rhythm. I feel like I can stare at them for hours.
V-J Day in Times Square, Alfred Eisenstaedt
Alfred Eisenstaedt – Alfred Eisenstaedt it s famous photo journalist. He has taken many pictures of current events in his time.  I love the mood some of his pictures depict. Many of them are happy.
Beauty, Pakistan 1984, Steve McCurry
Steve McCurry- Steve McCurry is a national geographic photographer. He has many photos of people and the way he captures their eyes is amazing. I feel as if they tell a story by the color, shape and expressing in their eyes.

Albert Einstein, Yousuf Karsh
Yousuf Karsh – Yousuf Karsh is a portrait photographer. I admire all of his portraits because I think it is difficult to capture a person and it is an accurate representation of them. His photos make you feel like you know the person.
Rwanda Scarred Man, James Nacthwey
James Nachtwey - James Nachtwey is a famous war photographer. Unlike Eisenstaedt, Nachtwey’s photos are more depressing but they still show respect for his subjects.
